It’s still in the planning stages, but I’m working on a methodology that could change the way we approach parenting. Here’s how I came to it.
In my small town of Albert in the Somme region of France, where I grew up, there was little opportunity to cultivate my curiosity about different ways of seeing the world. So, following my instinct for cultural adventure, and without really knowing what attracted me, I decided to explore Asia. Life and a stroke of luck (as it always is) led me to India, which I loved (almost) instantly. For many years I returned, without fully understanding why I was so drawn to this unique culture. Living a rather superficial life myself at the time, I couldn’t yet grasp the depth of what I would later discover, but my instinct inexorably pulled me toward this land and its people, so different from our own.
After entrepreneurial ventures and years of searching for my calling, a midlife crisis pushed me to re-evaluate my entire belief system and truly find myself. I had to understand how to reclaim my power as a woman if I wanted to save my health and my relationship—and consequently, my family. So I went to the Himalayas to find answers, to a wise man who gave me not only the guidance I needed, but also the keys to rediscovering my happiness—the happiness I didn’t even know I was looking for.
I spent several years applying these tools to my daily conflicts until I came to know and accept myself completely, to accept others and events, to understand the reasons for my actions and reactions, and to comprehend which choices to make in each situation, without hesitation. The spiritual initiation I began with a guru of the Tantric tradition elevated me toward love, compassion, and wisdom in how I see others and life. I can say that I now have a very clear understanding of what I need, what my limits are, how to express them calmly and firmly, how to face life’s difficulties without running away, what the problems of others are, and how to help them if they want help. I have regained my confidence and my power as a woman, and I know how to balance the feminine and masculine aspects of my personality to achieve a happy medium. Having young daughters, I see the impact my self-confidence has on their development, and how they too are transformed by my empowering attitude as a woman and mother.
This is what I now want to pass on to women.
We have immense potential to positively impact our families, our communities, and the world, but we don’t harness it because of fear, doubt, and insecurity. We need to rediscover our Shakti , the creative power of this world. Today, I want to share this through guidance for women so they too can take action in their own world.
